Hello everyone! Picking up where we left off: Elder Ruiz is doing much better! His dengue is completely gone! (We think) Life is good for me up here on the top of the Philippines! This week has been pretty great for me.
The more that I'm here, the more I actually love it. I'm really happy here. I love the Elders I live with and the people I get to serve! Especially the members. I'm continuing to love it here for sure.
Lately I have been actively pondering about the concept of improvements. I look at myself and sometimes become a little overwhelmed with how much I really need to improve. I'm not as effective or obedient or as fluent in Tagalog as I want to be. I'm not the courageous perfect master teacher I thought I would be when I put on my nametag! My pondering and goal setting for this challenge has left me discouraged when I come short of my vision of myself. But, I recently re-listened to the talk "Be Ye Therefore Perfect--Eventually" By Elder Holland. He teaches that as long as we are trying to become better, we aren't hypocrites, we are human! We teaches that we all make mistakes, and we all need to rely on Jesus Christ as our Savior and Redeemer.
As I become distraught with my seemingly "lack of perfection,"I need to remember to rely on Jesus Christ and his atonement. Both its saving power to save my from my sins and my mistakes, and its enabling power to help me rise above my many weaknesses.
This week I would just like to invite you all to strive to be patient with yourself. Everyone who has walked this earth is imperfect, except for the One who we look to for saving and enabling power. I know that there is real power in the Atonement of Jesus Christ. There are so many mistakes that we all make, but we all look to the example of Jesus Christ to help us rise above.
I love you all! Thank you for the love you send to me, keep it coming :)
