Hello everyone!! Kumusta kayong lahat! This week has been very... eventful. It seemed like something just weird, funny, or crazy happened every single day! I'll share just a little bit with you guys :)
We have a lot of people that we're teaching in our area. A lot more than my last area, which is great. This area is supposed to be 'harder work' than my last one. But, we are working hard and I feel really for the first time in my mission that I'm being a real missionary.
But the work isn't easy. This week we went to one of our barangay's (neighborhoods) named Sunggiam. This place had been really, really progressing before. In fact, at one point it had 28 total baptismal goal dates. The other day, after weeks and weeks of gradual and increasing disappointment, we dropped all of our people being taught there. We tried to go there and they told us that they do not want to change. We've gone again and again and promised if they will just read the Book of Mormon and pray to know, they will gain a witness of its truthfulness.
Sometimes, people choose to use their agency to reject the message.
We walked out of that barangay that day with the sun still high in the sky. We dropped all of our people in that place. As we walked out, I thought of Nephi's struggles as he tried to teach his brothers, whom he loved and cared for. He wrote: "Do ye not remember the things which the Lord hath said?- If ye will not harden your hearts, and ask me in faith, believing that ye shall receive, with diligence in keeping my commandments, surely these things shall be made known unto you."
It hurts my heart as I try so hard to help these people gain a witness but they won't act. Elder Fuller has reminded me that people have their own agency and all we call do is just invite people to come closer to Christ.
I guess my invitation this week to you all is simply, if something ain't working, fix it! If it cant be fixed, drop it like its hot!
Haha
Anyways, have a great week you all! Love you all! Ingat po kayo
