Week 47: Things as They Really Are

Hello everyone!! It's been another great week! I'm loving it here in San Juan. It's absolutely beautiful. There's times that I just look around where I am and I think I might be able to live here my whole life. I love it. Lot's of people are so nice and willing to listen to our message.
Yet, a lot of people have this idea that all religions are good and true as long as it's about Jesus Christ. So we end up in a lot of situations where we teach and it looks promising and then the people don't want to keep commitments because they just want to listen to us share uplifting messages.
Earlier this week, we were in a lesson with a sister and we learned that she had not been reading the Book of Mormon, and she told us multiple times that she's catholic and happy to listen but she won't change. Our usual route to helping people become converted is helping them read the Book of Mormon and then praying to know if it's true, they will then gain a testimony through the spirit.
We shared this verse about the spirit: "The Spirit speaketh the truth and lieth not. Wherefore it speaketh of things as they really are, and of things as they really will be; wherefore, these things are manifested unto us plainly, for the salvation of our souls." Jacob 4:13
We then explained that us, as people, can lie to people and tell them that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet. She agreed, and then agreed again that God cannot lie to us.
I then had a distinct impression to ask her if she had prayed to know if Joseph Smith was a prophet. She seemed a little taken back by the question, paused for a moment, and said she had. I asked her how the prayer went, and she she told us "Okay lang... (pause)... parang totoo." She said that the spirit had answered her prayer and told her that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God. The feeling of peace and comfort in that moment was special.
So there's a cool story from this week, I know that the Spirit will testify the truth to all things. I know it does. I'm a lot more confident in the Spirit right now than I was when I came out on my mission. It works, it really does.
Have a great week everyone! Mahal ko kayo! :)
Agyaman!

One of the members had her 30th birthday. She's awesome. I love the members here. So so fun. She made some delicious squid noodles and fried chicken. We brought some balloons.. the store was all out of 0's so we bought a 3 and an O. haha

Me and Elder Fuller have been playing chess a lot lately, it helps deal with stress and stuff. I love it. Here's one of my sick checkmate's for all my fans out there

One of our investigators, she's really nice. And funny. She doesn't have a husband yet so we're trying to find her one.. (We know another dude on the other part of town that's her age and doesn't have a wife yet) #missionarymatchmaker? #familiescanbetogetherforever
