Hello everyone! This week has been a pretty great week. A lot has happened that I didn't expect. My companion, Elder Saberdo, got transferred and now I'm with my MTC companion again, Elder Tuiaki. We're having such a great time and having a lot of fun catching up on memories / stories. It's been a whole year since I was companions with him. It's pretty cool to see the growth in him and also in myself.

I love Elder Tuiaki and I look up to him still. I remember how he was pretty much the reason why I didn't leave the MTC, why I made it through still sane. I got really sick with pneumonia in the MTC and he nursed me back to help. He helped me realize that just because I was sick didn't mean that I was a bad/disobedient missionary.

I'm still here in San Juan. I've now been here for over 6 months. This time in San Juan has seen a lot of growth in me. A lot of sweat, tears, and rice. I am grateful for this area and for the chance to still be here as there is probably something I have to learn still.

Well lemme show you all some pictures

We got a text from a member saying that she just sold her pig and wanted to take us out to lunch. So that made me happy. We ate this thing called "miki". they don't have it in the US, it's like a noodle soup kinda thing and it tastes delicious. It's one of my favorite foods here. The only downside is it's super hot and I'm not the biggest fan of eating hot soup when it's hot outside. But it's super delicious and worth it.

this is my Tongan companion, Elder Tuiaki. When I first became his companion in the MTC I called him Teriyaki because I had trouble pronouncing his name. I still call him that sometimes.

We came home and our house was flooded so here's a few pics of me mopping up the water in our bedroom.

Elder Tuiaki is good at playing the guitar. Makes for some good times singing with members. I kinda want to learn guitar but also don't have the time or a guitar so that dream might wait.

Me staring in the distance contemplating the meaning of life. Or maybe I was thinking about how many hours until lunch. I can't remember.

Us with the Dulay Family, our top progressing people that we're teaching. I love them so much. They are so excited to continue learning about the gospel and about the restoration. The miss my last companion, but they are continuing to investigate joining the church.

We were really worried that they wouldn't be able to make it to church because the only person that can drive them was busy, BUT they each found their own way to make it all the way to Cabugao and to church. I was so, so happy. One of them, the dude next to me, told me that he wants to serve a mission someday. It's pretty cool, I'm really excited to keep teaching them.

So that's my week, it's been fast. I hope you guys had a great week. Thanks again for all the birthday wishes and emails. I love you all.

I love my mission and I am so grateful for this opportunity to be here in the Philippines serving my Lord. I'm trying to be obedient and to work hard. I'm not a perfect missionary, but I'm striving to overcome my weaknesses through the atonement of Jesus Christ. That's what it's all about.

Ingat kayo 'lagi. Take care always.

Elder Childers
