Week 69: Return Unto Me

Hello everyone! Me and my companion have been working hard trying to talk to everyone and it's been really fun.
We had some cool experiences this week. On Saturday, me and Elder Hall were walking down this road trying to talk to people and this one guy was waiting out on his porch seemingly waiting for us to come and talk to him. He excitedly let us in and we learned that he was a long-time less active and hasn't been back to church since his college days. We were excited to meet his family, but they weren't there at the time, so we set a return appointment for the next day for us to come back and share to them.
We came back to him the next day on Sunday, and he let us in. After talking to him for a few minutes, his face lost his smile and he told his kids to go inside one of the bedrooms. He then told us through tears that he had made some pretty big mistakes at his work, and now he is probably going to lose his job, his credibility, and potentially his wife and children.
In this moment I felt so much of the regret and anguish this man was expressing. He desperately looked up to me and my companion, wondering if God really had a plan for him. Wondering if he could truly find forgiveness for his mistakes.
We tried to assure him of God's love for him and that Jesus really did come to earth to make forgiveness possible. We left him a reading assignment in the Book of Mormon, where Jesus told the Nephites:
"will ye not now return unto me, and repent of your sins, and be converted, that I may heal you?
Yea, verily I say unto you, if ye will come unto me ye shall have eternal life. Behold, mine arm of mercy is extended towards you, and whosoever will come, him will I receive; and blessed are those who come unto me."
I know that his arm of mercy is always outstretched for us. I know that repentance is possible no matter what we have done in our past. God truly has a plan for us, a plan that will lead us to true happiness and peace if we will be humble enough to follow His gospel.
Here's some of my pictures from this week!
